His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Islam the President of the Jubaland State, today chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers. The session focused on several critical issues, including the security situation in the Gedo region and the escalating tensions reportedly fueled by the command of the accused Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. These provocations are seen as deliberate attempts to incite prolonged conflict in the border areas of Gedo, which could have far-reaching consequences for peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
The Ministry of Security briefed the Cabinet on the latest developments in the region. The Ministry warned that the new strategy led by Hassan Sheikh’s command seeks to expand these conflicts into neighboring countries, posing a serious threat to regional stability and potentially resulting in outcomes that are not in the best interest of the Somali people.
Additionally, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change presented the Cabinet with a new urban waste management policy, aimed at protecting the environment and enhancing the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of cities across Jubaland.
