The position supports the Chief of Staff in managing the day-to-day functions of the Presidency, supervising departmental activities, and facilitating communication between the Office of the President and government institutions. The Deputy Chief of Staff also assists in policy coordination, strategic planning, and the preparation of official briefings and events.

Ali Abdi Mahat
Ali Abdi Mahat is the Deputy Director of the Office of the President of the Jubaland State Government. He is a dedicated public servant with years of experience in government administration and leadership within the Presidency.
From 2015 to 2018, he served as the Special Secretary to the President, and later as the Director of Protocol from 2018 to 2021, where he managed official ceremonies and high-level engagements.
Between 2021 and 2023, Mr. Mahat worked as the Presidential Advisor on International Relations. Since 2023, he has served as Deputy Cheif of Staff, supporting coordination, administration, and executive affairs within the Office of the President.
