The President of Jubaland, H.E Ahmed Mohamed Islaam, received in Kismayo on July 29th, 2026, a delegation led by Congressman Ronny Jackson, which included 11 members of the United States Congress, the U.S. chargé d’Affaires to Somalia, Justin Davis, and other officials.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism, as well as U.S Government support in the security sector, institution-building, and other matters critical to the development of Jubaland.
The senior U.S officials praised the sustained efforts that the Jubaland Government has invested over the years in combating terrorism. They also commended the recent successes achieved by the Jubaland Security Forces and the Jubaland Danab Commandos who, in coordination with AFRICOM, have carried out joint operations aimed at degrading terrorism.
The Jubaland Government expressed its gratitude to the U.S Government for the ongoing support it has long extended to the Somali people.
The President was accompanied in the meeting by MP Ahmed Abdi Kooshin, Secretary of the Defense Committee of the 11th Somali Federal Parliament, MP Mursal Mohamed Khalif, Chairperson of the Somalia-U.S Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and MP Abdirashid Jire Qalinle, Jubaland’s Representative to the Future of Somalia Council.
